    NGX: Equities market begins week with N123bn profit for investors

    The Nigerian equities market began the new week and September on a positive note as investors raked in a profit of N123bn at the end of trading on Monday, September 2, 2024.

    This followed the increase in the share prices of stocks like Oando, IMG and ETranzact amongst others on the trading floor.

    After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization surged to N55.601 trillion from N55.478 trillion recorded by the bourse on Thursday.

    The All-Share Index (ASI) also increased to 96,793.95 from 96,580.01.

    The market breadth was negative as 28 stocks advanced and 29 stocks declined, while 58 stocks remained unchanged in 13,149 deals. 

    Oando, IMG and ETranzact led other gainers with 9.95%, 9.85% and 9.80% growth each in share prices to close at N84.55, N29.00, and N5.60 from the previous N76.90, N26.40, and N5.10 per share.

    On the flip side, Livestock, Rtbriscoe, and Cornerstone led other price decliners as they shed 10%, 9.86%, and 9.63% each to close at N2.25, N3.20, and N2.44 from the initial N2.50, N3.55, and N2.70 per share.

    On the volume index, UBA led trading with 54 million shares valued at N1.3 billion in 940 deals followed by ZenithBank which traded 39 million shares valued at N1.5 billion in 858 deals.

    Oando traded 38 million shares valued at N3.2 billion in 1,562 deals.

    On the value index, Oando recorded the highest value for the day trading stocks worth N3.2 billion in 1562 deals followed by ZENITHBANK which traded equities worth N1.5 billion in 858 deals.

    UBA traded shares valued at N1.3 billion in 940 deals.
