Nigeria’s Falconets have fallen to Germany at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and must have to win their final group game to progress.

The Nigerian ladies were defeated 3-1 by Germany in their second Group D match in Colombia. This marks Germany’s fifth win against Nigeria at the tournament.

Alara Sehitler, Sofie Zdebel, and Sarah Ernst scored for Germany, while Chiamaka Okwuchukwu netted Nigeria’s lone goal.

Nigeria already won their opening game against South-Korea hence despite the loss against Germany, the Falconets can still advance to the quarterfinals with a victory over Venezuela on Saturday.

Germany opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Sehitler, and although Okwuchukwu equalized early in the second half, Zdebel put Germany ahead again in the 62nd minute.

Ernst secured the win with a late goal in the 93rd minute.

The Falconets fought hard but missed key chances to level the match, leaving them needing a win in their final group game.
