The Osun State Police Command announced on Wednesday the arrest of seven suspects allegedly involved in the sale of human parts and water used to bathe corpses.
Among those apprehended were two mortuary attendants: 43-year-old Johnson Daniel and 42-year-old Adetunji Okunade.
According to Acting Police Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, the arrests were made following credible information from a concerned citizen that Daniel had been selling remains from the mortuary where he worked in Ipetu-Ijesa to native doctors.
“The suspects used these remains obtained from the mortuary attendant (Johnson Daniel) for various ritual purposes,” Giwa-Alade stated. He added that Daniel admitted to conspiring with Okunade to sell remnants of the bathing water to interested native doctors.

During the investigation, police searched the residences of the suspects and recovered fragments of substances believed to be human skulls from the homes of Asaka Rauf and Oladapo Hammed. Additionally, a female pant and a notebook containing ritual instructions were found at the residence of Balogun Temitope Asimiyu.
Giwa-Alade also reported the arrest of three individuals for promoting the Yoruba Nation in the state. Oluwafemi Fagbuyi was apprehended at Obada Market in Ikire while urging attendees to “denounce their allegiance to Nigeria as a nation,” claiming that Nigeria’s existence ended in 2014 after a century of amalgamation, during which he displayed the Yoruba Nation’s flag.
“The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after a preliminary investigation. Through diligent investigation, Joy Faseyiku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64, were arrested in Osogbo and Ikire, respectively,” he noted. “The investigation has been concluded, and the suspects have been charged to the Federal High Court accordingly.”
