Prince Emmanuel Odigie, Deputy Director-General of the Edo PDP Governorship Campaign Council, on Tuesday broke down in tears during an interview with AriseTV Morning Show, as he recounted a heart-wrenching encounter with four women at the airport.

According to him, the women, two from Houston and two from Atlanta, had traveled to Nigeria to vote for Asue Ighodalo for the first time, mobilizing their family and friends to do the same.

Je stated that they were however left disillusioned and vowed never to return to Nigeria.

“They thought with Asiwaju Tinubu and his fight for democracy and his pledge to uphold democracy, but under his watch, this impunity is happening,” Odigie said, his voice shaking with emotion. “I broke down in tears as the women also cried.”

Odigie’s emotional outburst was a response to the outcome of the Edo governorship election, which saw the APC’s Monday Okpebholo declared winner. The PDP has alleged that the election was rigged, with Odigie claiming that over 30 civil society organizations have confirmed the irregularities.

“Over 30 civil society organizations have confirmed that the election was rigged and anyone who accuses the PDP of being a part of it is being funny. Of course, we have the legacy PDP who pulled out to support the APC in this evil on Edo people.

“I earlier said there were masterplans by the APC,” Odigie stated. “Who can predict such impunity will take place in a democracy where the President is the ECOWAS chairman?”

Odigie’s words cut to the heart of the matter, questioning the very fabric of Nigeria’s democracy. “What happened to the will of the people? What happens to voting, competence, and the betterment of society?” he asked.

The Edo governorship election has been marred by controversy, with allegations of impunity and rigging threatening to undermine the democratic process. As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the people of Edo deserve answers.
