ByteDance, the parent company of Tiktok has reportedly moved to shut down Tiktok Music (its music streaming service) globally from November 28.

The company is now pushing its users to take advantage of the “Add to Music App” option which allows users to save songs they find on TikTok to their preferred music streaming services.

ByteDance is now directing users of the platform to transfer playlists to other services.

The company set up Tiktok Music to compete with the likes of Spotify (SPOT) and Apple Music (AAPL) devices.

The service was available in Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Singapore and Mexico.

“We are sorry to inform you that TikTok Music will be closing on 28 November 2024.

“We will be closing TikTok Music to focus on our goal of furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services for the benefit of artists, songwriters, and the industry,” Ole Obermann, global head of music business development at TikTok, said in a statement.
