Amidst the present leadership turmoil, former Senate President Bukola Saraki has advised PDP members to put the party’s needs ahead of their own personal goals.

Saraki told a group of PDP members in Abuja that the party has made great strides and shouldn’t be given up for personal goals.

Saraki’s prudence coincides with internal arguments within the erstwhile ruling party that stem from the run-up to the 2023 presidential race.

In 2023, Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde, and a few other former governors were among the chieftains that opposed the PDP’s presidential nominee.

The PDP’s leadership issue has persisted since the most recent presidential election.

“The party was founded on ideas, philosophies, and policies,” Saraki asserted. We should stop constructing ideas based on individual aspirations. Without a party, it is impossible to have ambition. Without ideas, it is impossible to host a party. This is the beginning of it.

“Let us put an end to the discussion regarding the 2027 presidential, governor, and councilor candidates. Let us concentrate on the PDP’s attributes. Which problems and regulations need to be addressed? Nigerians are interested in this information.

“We want Nigerians to know that this is a serious party,” the speaker said. We take the lead. That is how the PDP should lead.
