    Late Newcastle penalty forces Man City to drop points again

    Manchester City were forced to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

    City, who had been on a perfect start before falling to a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in their last game, were again forced to drop points.

    It was Anthony Gordon’s second-half penalty in the 58th minute that earned Newcastle a point against the champions.

    Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis combined well to cover for the influential Rodri, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

    City defender Josko Gvardiol had put the visitors ahead after 35 minutes when he finished smartly from Jack Grealish’s lay-off.

    Despite the effort, the Magpies remain with only one win in 34 top-flight meetings with City, who have have now dropped four points in the space of a week.
