An Abuja Federal High Court has approved bail for Isaac Bristol, the whistleblower associated with the PIDOMNigeria account on X.

Justice Emeka Nwite set the bail at N5 million, requiring Bristol to provide one surety of equivalent value. This decision came after a motion filed by Deji Adeyanju, who heads Bristol’s legal team.

The motion was a formal request for the court to take specific action regarding Bristol’s case. Justice Nwite’s ruling came after consideration of the arguments and evidence presented by Adeyanju’s team.

In addition to the bail, the court mandated that Bristol must deposit his passport with the court. The surety must reside in Abuja and submit an affidavit of means, alongside proof of three years’ tax clearance and two passport-sized photographs.

Bristol has been in custody at Kuje Correctional Centre since September 11, facing charges of alleged treason, mobilizing support to “unduly compel” government action through the #EndBadGovernance protests, falsely alleging money laundering against President Bola Tinubu, and unlawfully obtaining and disseminating classified documents in violation of the Official Secrets Act of 1962.
