The Take It Back Movement has made a bold move by proposing a virtual meeting with the Lagos State Police Command, citing logistical difficulties in attending an in-person meeting.

This development comes after the police invited key members of the movement, including National Coordinator Sanyaolu Juwon, to discuss “issues of national interests” with the new Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola.

    Concerns Over Arrest

Sources within the organization have expressed concerns that the physical meeting could be a ploy to arrest them. However, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, has assured that the meeting would be friendly, with no intention of arresting anyone.

    Logistical Challenges

In a letter to Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaiyeoba Joseph, the movement’s solicitors, Inibehe Effiong Chambers, on Wednesday, stated that several executive members were outside Lagos and couldn’t travel for a physical meeting.”

Due to the short notice and the fact that several key members of the Take It Back Movement are currently out of Lagos State, attending the physical meeting may be impracticable,” the letter read.

    Virtual Meeting Proposal

The movement has proposed a virtual meeting as a more convenient alternative. “We respectfully propose a virtual meeting as an alternative, as this would enable all necessary participants to join remotely and contribute productively to the discussions.” They also offered to reschedule the meeting for early October if physical presence is essential.

    Planned October Protest

The planned October 1 protest, tagged ‘FearlessInOctober’, will address economic hardship, inflation, and fuel scarcity in Nigeria. The protest aims to bring attention to the struggles Nigerians face daily.

The Take It Back Movement’s proposal has sparked interest, and the outcome of the meeting will be crucial in understanding the relationship between the movement and the Lagos Police.
