    Four die in Borno canoe accident

    At least four persons died in canoe accident in Dikwa, Borno State, on Monday.

    The spokesman for the state police command, Nahum Daso said in a statement on Tuesday the canoe sank in floodwaters at the Bakassi community along the Maiduguri Road, Dikwa, at about 4:00 p.m., on Monday.

    He said the victims were females.

    The spokesman listed the victims as Ya Mallum Shettima, Maimuna Akura, Umira Alhaji Bulama and Yagana Bulama Kawu.

    “In light of this tragic incident, Commissioner of Police, CP ML Yusufu, while expressing heartfelt condolences, urged the public, particularly those in flood-affected areas, to exercise caution during this period, and promptly report any emergency or distress to the following contacts: 08068075581, 0802343293,” Daso added.
