In a surprising turn of events, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has lost his local government area, Oredo Local Government Area, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election.

According to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday in Benin City, the state capital, the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, emerged victorious with a total of 30,780 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who is also Obaseki’s anointed candidate, secured 24,938 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party polled 5389 votes. This loss is a significant setback for Obaseki, who is currently serving his second term as governor of Edo State.

The outcome of this election has left many wondering about the implications for Obaseki’s political future and the future of the PDP in Edo State. As the results continue to roll in, it remains to be seen how this will affect the overall outcome of the election. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation unfolds.
