The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Police to guarantee a free, fair, and credible governorship election in Edo State.

This appeal was made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, during a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ologunagba called for INEC to ensure that all result sheets for the election are counter-signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and the National Commissioner supervising the zone to ensure authentication. He stressed that these result sheets should be countersigned at the time of distributing election materials to local governments, wards, and units.

He emphasized that the PDP and the people of Edo would not tolerate any rigging in the upcoming election. “The PDP and millions of its supporters are fully prepared for the election and optimistic of victory,” he stated.

Ologunagba encouraged voters to remain law-abiding and peaceful while being vigilant about their votes. “After casting their votes, they should stay back peacefully and ensure that their votes are counted and results directly uploaded before leaving,” he advised.

Additionally, Ologunagba called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct INEC and the police to uphold the integrity of the election process, ensuring that the Edo governorship election is credible.
