    NCDC confirms 55 Mpox cases in 29 states

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) on Tuesday confirmed 55 cases of Mpox in the country.

    The centre disclosed this on its website, saying that 55 cases were confirmed from the 935 suspected cases across 39 local government areas in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    It added that no fatality has been recorded from the disease so far this year.

    NCDC said: “The reported cases were 70 percent males while 30 percent were females.

    “The age distribution of confirmed cases revealed that 19 were recorded in ages 0-10, eight in ages 11-20, and 12 in ages 21-30.

    “Additionally, eight cases were recorded in ages 31-40, seven in ages 41-50, and one in an individual aged 50 and above.”

    “The breakdown of the confirmed shows the following – Enugu (8), Bayelsa (6), Akwa-Ibom (6), Cross River (5), Delta (3), Benue (3) and Plateau (3)

    Others are – Osun (2), Imo (2), FCT (2), Anambra (2), Rivers (2), Abia (2), Lagos (1), Kebbi (1), Nasarawa (1), Edo (1), Ebonyi (1), Zamfara (1), Oyo (1), Kaduna (1), and Niger (1).”
