The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday quizzed the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, over alleged contract irregularities in the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

He was also accused of job racketeering in the agency during his time in office.

The development followed the invitation of some officials of the NSITF over the payment of N47 million gratuity to the agency’s former Managing Director, Mrs. Maureen Allagoa, while she was still in service.

The ICPC’s spokesman, Demola Bakare, confirmed Ngige’s invitation on Thursday night.

He said the ex-minister was released after he was questioned by the ICPC operatives for some hours.

Ngige served as minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for eight years.
