Ex-Super Eagles player Joseph Yobo has expressed his desire go into football coaching while demanding that indigenous coaches be treated better.

His call from months after former international Finidi George resigned from the national team as head coach following alleged poor treatment by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Yobo, who had worked with the Super Eagles under Gernot Rohr and Austin Eguavoen, has now called on the NFF to change the way they treat indigenous coaches when they take charge of the Super Eagles.

In a chat with Brila FM, Yobo reiterated that he has not shut the door on coaching.

“My life doesn’t depend on coaching, but if I don’t go back to coaching, I believe Nigeria missed something. Everyone who knows me knows my passion for the game, I put my heart into it,” he said

“I learnt a lot from Gernot Rohr, but mostly under Eguavoen. They didn’t allow me to follow through so they could see what I had learned and how I could impact the players.

“I haven’t shut the door on coaching, but it’s not my top priority. They need to change the way they treat our local coaches.

“That was the only reason I didn’t want to join while I was still playing, even though I had the opportunity to see how it works,” he added in quotes revealed by Brila.

Recall that the 44-year-old captained the senior national team to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations under late coach Stephen Keshi.
