Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed the reason behind his decision to join Saudi club, Al-Khaloood.

Troost-Ekong linked up with the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League side from Greek Super League champions PAOK Thessaloniki last month.

The 31-year-old spent just one season at PAOK, winning the Greek Super League title with the club.

The centre-back, who was first linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in January, said the need to secure his future prompted him to accept the offer.

“I got an offer I couldn’t turn down. I am 31, now I have to think about the big picture,” Troost-Ekong said on Counter Attack Podcast.

“I think the Saudi Premier League is competitive, you see the names that are playing there in my first game was against Benzema, Kante, Fabinho, players that are world level.

“But at the same time everybody talk about the opportunity you have there to guarantee your future,v to think about my family, kids.”
