The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reassured corps members that their monthly stipends will be increased once the Federal Government implements the new minimum wage.

This promise was made by the NYSC Director General, Yusha’u Ahmed, during his visit to Kebbi and Sokoto states to address the 2024 Batch ‘B’ stream two corps members at the orientation camps.

Ahmed emphasized the invaluable contributions of corps members to the country’s socio-economic development, urging them to utilize their service year to develop themselves and plan for a brighter future.

He encouraged corps members to take advantage of the NYSC skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program, stating, “At least, learn a skill while in camp and after the Orientation Course, you continue with the post-camp training. Try to acquire a skill that would enable you to create jobs and employ others instead of searching for jobs.”

The Director General highlighted the success stories of ex-Corps members who have excelled in their various vocations, citing the NYSC Management’s partnerships with reputable organizations such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Unity Bank, Access Bank, and NNPC Foundation. These partnerships aim to provide loans and grants to Corps Members, empowering them to become entrepreneurs and job creators.

“We have many ex-Corps members across the country who are doing well in their different vocations today,” Ahmed said. “We want to encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities and make the most of your service year.”
