Maritime Innovation Week will return for its third year from 19–21 November, drawing together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to explore sustainable advancements in the maritime sector.

The event will take place at London’s BT Tower for the first two days, concluding at the 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub at the Port of Tyne.

This year’s theme, “Accelerate and Amplify: Making Innovation Happen”, will spotlight technologies and strategies that address the industry’s sustainability challenges.

The programme includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, and showcases of emerging technologies and entrepreneurial spin-offs, offering participants a hands-on approach to practical maritime innovation.

    Day 1: Maritime Futures

Kicking off on 19 November, the first day will feature discussions on the future of maritime technology, covering topics such as 5G, AI, and sustainable port innovation. Key speakers include Mike Kane MP, Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Security, and Port of Tyne CEO Matt Beeton.

Representatives from organisations like Maersk, DP World, and the Ministry of Defence will provide insights into trends shaping maritime operations.

    Day 2: Innovation into Action

The focus shifts to real-world applications on 20 November, with a keynote from Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange. Panels featuring Port of Valencia, Connected Places Catapult, and UK Clean Maritime Research Hub will explore funding strategies and commercialisation pathways for emerging maritime technologies.

Global trends will be addressed by experts from BT, Ericsson, and Gorilla, with a focus on sustainable practices.

Day 3: Innovation for People and Placemaking

On the final day at the Port of Tyne, the agenda will centre on the North East’s role in advancing clean growth and community engagement. Panels featuring Hitachi Rail, Nissan, and Equinor will highlight regional innovation, followed by a discussion on skills development with the North East Combined Authority.
