The Federal Government has filed a fresh criminal charge against the former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, TheCable reports.

In the charge sheet seen by the news platform on Wednesday, the former governor will be arraigned on a 16-count charge of criminal breach of trust to the tune of N110.4 billion alongside two officials of the state government, Abdulsalami Hudu, and Umar Oricha.

The offence, according to the government, was contrary to sections 96 and 311 of Penal Code Law Cap.89 Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, and punishable under Section 312 of the same law.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier filed a 19-count charge of fraud against Bello at the same court.

The commission alleged that the ex-governor diverted N80.2 billion belonging to the state government during his time in office.

However, Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned the case till October 30 when the hearing on the matter resumed on Wednesday.

This followed a report by one of Bello’s lawyers that his client had appealed the decision to arraign him at the Supreme Court.
