Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, president of the African School of Governance (ASG), has urged Africans to address own issues and not turn to other world leaders for help.

African leadership, governance, security, and democracy are the first issues that need to be addressed, according to the former presidential contender.

As he returns as the 47th president of the United States, Moghalu made this statement in response to expectations from President Donald Trump.

Four years after losing to President Joe Biden, Trump emerged as the US president-elect with a majority vote and electoral college victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Moghalu cautioned Africans, however, not to have high expectations of Trump and advised them to cease seeking outside support.

If you’re wondering what Donald Trump’s incredible electoral return means for Africa, the former deputy director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) posted on his X handle: “Not much! Africa has never piqued his curiosity. It is even more crucial that Africans address their own issues, beginning with democracy, security, leadership, and governance.

“We ought to be less dependent on outside props. The extraordinary electoral result in Botswana and the incumbent’s kind capitulation were not the result of US intervention. According to him, Trump will undoubtedly have an impact on China, the Middle East, Ukraine, and Europe as a whole.
