A new terrorist organization that operates in Kebbi and Sokoto States was identified by the Nigerian Armed Forces on Thursday.

During the biweekly press conference on continuing military operations, Major General Edward Buba, Director, Defense Media Operations, revealed this.

According to him, the terror organization is connected to Islamist groups in Niger and Mali.

He attributed their rise to the political unrest in Niger and Mali, which has encouraged the invasion into Nigeria by extremist groups.

Additionally, Buba accused the people of Sokoto of allowing the new group to stay there for a while rather than informing the proper authorities of their existence.

In the Northeast, he announced that nine people were wanted for violent extremism and terrorism.

These are IDRIS TAKLAKSE, IBRAHIM SUYEKA, BA SULHU, MUSA WA’A, DADI GUMBA (ABU MUHAMME, ABU YUSUF), ABU KHADIJAH, ABDURRAHMA, and MUSA WA’A.

The commanders of insurgents, terrorists, and bandits who are wanted are from the northeast region.

Additionally, he revealed that in October 2024, troops killed 481 terrorists, detained 741 people, freed 492 captives, recovered 480 weapons, and found 9,026 different types of ammunition. He denied that the oil theft was responsible for an estimated N3,896, 400.960.00 (N3,896).

The following, among other things, are included in the October breakdown, he claims: 81 locally made firearms, 91 Dane firearms, 76 pump action firearms, 263 AK-47 rifles, 1,944 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 5,683 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 642 cartridges, 160 different weapons, and 1,526 different types of ammunition. This includes, among other things, 12,690 liters of PMS, 763,860 liters of unlawfully refined AGO, and 3,226,645 liters of stolen crude oil.

The DDMO insisted that the Air Force also precisely carried out air interdiction and bombardment on these terrorist enclaves and hideouts, reducing their fighting capabilities. The terrorists are aware that they cannot match the military strength because their only options are to surrender or be killed on the battlefield.
