    Bago Invites Diaspora Investors to Boost Niger State’s Economy

    During the recently concluded Canada-Nigeria Business Summit, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago called for Diaspora investors, especially Nigerians and their Canadian partners, to visit Niger State and bring about an Agricultural Revolution.

    Informed by Governor Bago, the Diaspora Business

    Niger State has signed four component agreements with the Brazilian government in sugar plantation agriculture, and the community in Toronto, Canada, is prepared to create livestock markets.

    Furthermore, he mentioned that he had donated 100 hectares of land to Nollywood and offered land and agricultural equipment for Diaspora farming in Niger State.

    Another incentive and package is the well-known Zuma Rock Hotel for Hospital, which is being offered in association with Nigerian-Canadian physicians.

    In a similar vein, Sen. Victor Umeh, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora, Nongovernmental Organizations, and Civil Societies, promised that the National Assembly would support strong laws that would promote diaspora involvement in homeland development.

    According to Maryam Murtala, CEO of Canada Vendors, and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), who organized and facilitated the FireSide Chat, the purpose of the gathering was to encourage states to invest in the diaspora.

    Councillors Ayo Owodunni and Khadijat, two Nigerians living in Canada, highlighted during the lively discussion their wish to work with their home country for national development.
