A report issued by Osagie Edward, Head, Public Relations of NIMASA noted that the monitoring office reported an illegal boarding of a Marshall Islands-flagged chemical tanker “Sea Panther” southwest of Brass, Nigeria.

The release stated that “this is the first of such attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters since 2021.

“Four individuals boarded the vessel and made away with some personal items of crew members.

“All crew members are safe and MT Sea Panther has since sailed off Nigerian waters safely.

“NIMASA is working closely with relevant security agencies and further investigations into the incident are ongoing,” said the release.
